A 28-year-old man has been jailed after he admitted to stalking a man in his 60s.
Nathan Birkett, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to 16 weeks in prison and given a one-year restraining order at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, July 22.
Birkett pleaded guilty to one count of stalking without fear/alarm/distress and breaching a non-molestation order at the same hearing.
Birkett stalked his victim by attending his address in Prestwood, whilst trying to contact him multiple times between Friday, June 28, and Saturday, July 20, despite a non-molestation order.
On Saturday, officers attended the victim’s address and found Birkett sitting outside the front door so they arrested him.
Birkett was charged the same day.
Investigating officer PC George Ward said: “Nathan Birkett has been held to account for his actions in breaching his non-molestation order, which was put in place to help ensure the victim’s safety.
“In this case, Birkett repeatedly breached this and also pursued a course of conduct against the victim amounting to stalking.
“We will always listen to stalking victims and fully investigate so offenders are put before the courts.”
