Plans to completely renovate a property once owned by the Osbourne family have been given the green light.
After an application to Buckinghamshire Council was sent earlier this year, additional submissions were put forward to turn Beel House, which is based on Snells Lane in Little Chalfont, into functioning property.
The mansion has been left abandoned for several years, with the location being notorious as it was the venue where Ozzy tried to kill his wife, Sharon, whilst high on drugs in the 1980s.
The family eventually left Buckinghamshire for the United States, before retuning to one of their other homes, which is based in Jordans.
Beel House is now under the ownership of Russian film titans Sergei Oleg Yershov and Olga Romanov.
They first submitted a planning application on March 14, this year for a ‘proposed demolition and rebuild of first and second floors of curved bay’.
And on July 8, permission was granted to renovate the house, under the following rules:
- It must not take no more than three years for the works to be completed
- No new plumbing, pipes, soil-stacks, flues, vents, or ductwork shall be fixed on the external faces of the buildings other than those shown on the drawings hereby approved
- No new grilles, security alarms, lighting, security or other cameras or other fixtures shall be mounted on the external faces of the building other than those shown on the drawings hereby approved
- The exterior of the development hereby permitted shall only be constructed in the materials specified on the plans hereby approved or in materials which shall previously have been approved in writing by the Local Planning Authority
It is not known when work will officially begin.
Set in 13.5 acres of grounds, Beel House features four bathrooms, a library, a large indoor swimming pool, a steam room, a sauna, a gym, changing rooms, a tennis court, a croquet lawn, a games room and a deer park.
After the sprawling country pile was sold in 2021, surveys revealed decay, mould and dampness within the property, which is now in ‘poor condition’ and ‘in desperate need of refurbishment.’
The Osbournes moved into the property back in 1980, before departing the vacancy in the 1990s.
Beel House’s other well-known occupants have included Lady Caroline Cavendish in the 1830s, Colonel Abram Lyle of the Tate & Lyle sugar company from 1909 to 1920 and the actor Sir Dirk Bogarde who bought it in 1954.
