A leafy village in the Chilterns has been named the most stylish place to live in Bucks – and cracked the national top 10.
Turville, a pretty countryside escape just five miles outside High Wycombe, is perhaps best known for its history on the big screen.
Sitting at the bottom of a valley, the village is towered over by the iconic Cobstone Windmill, as seen in the 1968 musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and was the setting for Dawn French’s BBC comedy The Vicar of Dibley.
The rural hamlet owes, in part, such stints on the big and small screen to its inclusion on a list of the 60 most stylish places to live in the UK, clocking in at number five on the ranking compiled by online retailer FurnitureBox after polling panels of over 5,000 people from across the country.
The number one spot went to Grassington in North Yorkshire – funnily enough, also a filming hotspot that served as the backdrop to Channel 5 drama All Creatures Great and Small.
Surveyed respondents were asked to rank locations according to the beauty of their buildings, their ‘Instragrammability’ and their popularity with artists and filmmakers.
Back in February, the Free Press reported that Turville was bucking a national trend of housing market decline, with the area experiencing a 63.5 per cent increase in property costs as UK-wide prices dropped by 1.8 per cent.
