A Gerrards Cross councillor has been given planning permission for a rear home extension by his fellow Buckinghamshire councillors.

Andrew Wood, the town’s former mayor, was given the go-ahead for changes to the property in Howards Wood Drive by a Buckinghamshire Council planning committee this week.

The councillors voted unanimously in favour of his planned one-storey extension, which was recommended for approval by planning officers.

Cllr Wood’s proposals also included replacing the rear windows of the property and changing the colour of the frames to grey.

His plans came before the committee because he is a councillor, meaning they could not be determined by officers alone.

The approval of his proposals was subject to one condition to protect trees on a boundary, which is ‘far away’ from the extension, according to a planning officer.

Cllr Michael Bracken told the meeting: “I don’t think this is a controversial application and I know all the reasons why it is in front of us, but I suggest we move straight to a vote.”

A planning officer presenting the application said the rear extension was considered to be ‘modest in scale’, projecting no more than 4m from the original building and being a maximum of 3.8m high.
