A primary school in High Wycombe was put into lockdown following reports that a man was outside the premises with a firearm.
At around 1pm on Thursday, July 4, response and armed officers attended Booker Hill School on Field Road where they immediately shut down the building as a ‘precautionary measure.’
Following the incident, a 17-year-old man from High Wycombe was arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearms offence and possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B, cannabis. He remains in police custody.
No firearm has been recovered but an investigation is ongoing.
The school returned to normal soon afterwards.
Thames Valley Police said: “We understand this may be concerning for the community but there is not believed to be any ongoing threat to the public.
“Uniformed officers also remain in the area so please speak to them if you are worried.
