Polls have opened across Buckinghamshire as the country has its say on who should form the next government.
Polling stations opened for voting at 7am today, July 4, and will remain open until 10pm.
It’s the first general election where voters will need to show photographic ID before receiving their ballot paper after a law change in 2022.
Postal votes can also be handed into polling stations before 10pm today with no photo ID needed and voters can apply for an emergency proxy vote by filling in a form before 5pm if they can’t make it to a polling station because of a medical emergency, work commitment, or if their ID has been lost, stolen, damaged or destroyed.
To apply for an emergency proxy vote, email elections@buckinghamshire.gov.uk.
Today’s election follows six weeks of campaigning from the major parties on issues including immigration, the NHS, cost of living, and education.
Whether the result tomorrow morning is a victory for the Conservatives or Labour, it will be one for the history books – with the Tories hoping to secure a record fifth consecutive term and Labour looking to oust the Conservatives after 14 years in office.
The Bucks Free Press will be bringing you live coverage of election results, reactions and analysis across the county throughout the day and as they are announced tonight.
