Police cordoned off two roads in High Wycombe and evacuated local businesses after a ‘suspicious package’ was found near the town centre.
A man was arrested under the Explosives Act at around midday yesterday (June 1) after a “suspicious package” was found in a car parked outside Wycombe’s police station on Queen Victoria Road.
Thames Valley Police has now confirmed that buildings on Queen Victoria Road and St Marys Street including the council offices have reopened after the package was judged to be non-dangerous.
Detective Superintendent Rebecca Mears said: “I’m pleased to update that the package has been examined and is not of concern. Thank you to local residents, businesses and visitors to the town for their patience while the cordon was in place for everyone’s safety.”
The man arrested in connection with yesterday's incident is still in police custody.
