High Wycombe Police Station and Buckinghamshire County Council’s offices closed after suspicious object found

A suspicious package has been found in a vehicle parked near the police station.

There is currently a cordon in place, with neighbouring buildings evacuated as a precaution.

St Marys Street and Queen Victoria Road are closed and likely to remain closed for some time.

The Swan car park is within the cordoned off area, but we are facilitating those parked there to be able to leave.

We would advise motorists and pedestrians to avoid the area at this time. We will provide further updates when the road reopens.

Detective Superintendent Rebecca Mears said: “A man has been arrested under the Explosives Act in connection with the incident. There is no indication that this is related to terrorism, but we are keeping an open mind.

“We will deal with the incident as quickly as possible, but our priority is the safety of the public.”
