A hygiene inspector said ‘major improvement’ was needed to food safety at a popular kebab shop in High Wycombe.
Ali’s Corner Grill on West End Street was given a food hygiene rating of one-out-of-five following an unannounced inspection on May 21.
The kebab shop, which also serves burgers, wraps and chicken, has a Google rating of 4.1 stars, with recent reviews praising its “fresh and tasty” food and “generous portions”.
However, the low score – the second-lowest possible – indicates that major improvement is needed in its food hygiene practices.
The inspector found that the most work was needed to improve the management of food safety at the local takeaway spot.

This means better systems or checks are needed to ensure that the food being sold or served is safe to eat, as well as more evidence that staff are aware of the correct food safety practices.
The inspector also said some improvement was needed to the shop’s hygienic food handling but described the cleanliness and condition of the facilities as ‘generally satisfactory’.
Here's what each rating means:
0 – urgent improvement is necessary
1 – major improvement is necessary
2 – some improvement is necessary
3 – hygiene standards are generally satisfactory
4 – hygiene standards are good
5 – hygiene standards are very good
