Firefighters were called to a road in High Wycombe after reports of a blaze involving a van and two cars.

Two crews from Bucks Fire and Rescue’s High Wycombe station and one from Beaconsfield arrived at Grenfell Avenue at around 11:42pm yesterday (June 25).

It followed multiple calls to the Thames Valley Fire Control Service from members of the public who spotted a large fire in the Booker, Cressex and Castlefield ward last night.

Emergency service workers found one car completely destroyed by the flames upon their arrival, while the other car and van each had “around 50 per cent fire damage”.

20 metres of nearby fencing had also been damaged.

Firefighters used equipment including breathing apparatus, a hose reel, a thermal imaging camera and spreaders to tackle the blaze.

A spokesperson for Thames Valley Police said the force was investigating the incident to "establish whether it was an accident or a deliberate act".

Adding: "We would urge anyone who has footage or information about the fire and hasn’t already spoken to Thames Valley Police to contact us via our website, a police station, or call 101, quoting investigation reference number 2768."
