A local nurse has been awarded an MBE for her decades of service to the NHS.
Karen Bonner has worked for the Bucks NHS Trust for over 30 years.
Her parents were Caribbean immigrants - and her mother herself worked at Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
Between 2017 and 2021, Mrs Bonner was a member of the NHS' Workforce Race Equality Standard.
She won praise for her efforts to foster diversity in the health service.
The Health Service Journal listed her as one of the most influential BAME people in British healthcare for two years consecutively, in 2021 and 2022.
On making the King's Birthday Honours, Mrs Bonner said: "I don’t think it’s quite sunk in yet.
"I am grateful for all the opportunities I’ve had in my career to date and I want to thank all the incredible teams and individuals I’ve worked and continue to work with."
