Police made an unusual discovery after pulling over a man in Bucks last month.
On May 1, officers attempted to stop a car in Ibstone Road, Stokenchurch.
The driver, 45-year-old Welwyn Garden City man Christopher Kiernan, initially failed to pull over.
When he did eventually stop, officers searched his car - and found a bayonet.
It was established that the defendant had no lawful reason to have this on him.
Kiernan pleaded guilty to charges of possessing a bladed article in public and failing to stop for the police.
At High Wycombe Magistrates' Court on June 3, he was handed a community order.
This includes a 30-day rehabilitation activity requirement. He must complete the activities within a year.
He must also complete 150 hours of unpaid work in the same time period.
The bayonet is to be forfeited and destroyed.
