Dear Editor,
I would like to remind your readers to register to vote. Tuesday. June 18, is the final day that people can register to vote for the UK General Election on July 4.
Registering to vote online only takes a few minutes but is incredibly important.
Currently, 8 million UK citizens are not registered to vote. These forgotten millions have no say at all in how our country is run.
I also want to urge our local parliamentary candidates to get behind changing our outdated system of electoral registration.
Dozens of countries use Automatic Voter Registration, where citizens are automatically registered to vote when they apply for things like a driver's licence or a passport. This would be great for democracy in the UK.
Let's register every voter!
