A body has been discovered in a rocky area beside Agia Marina during the search for TV doctor and columnist Michael Mosley, who went missing while on holiday on the Greek island of Symi.
The finding occurred this morning [Sunday, June 9], as rescue workers battled soaring temperatures to locate the 67-year-old who disappeared on Wednesday, June 5.
The Beaconsfield-based presenter, writer, journalist and podcaster was with his wife on the Agios Nikolaos beach before he decided to set off on a solo walk at roughly 11.30am UK time (1.30pm local time).
He departed for his trek without his phone and was reported missing when he failed to arrive at their accommodation that evening.
According to the BBC, the body [which has yet to be formally identified] was discovered near a small cliff by a 'rocky hill north east of the village of Pedi'.
This is near Agia Marina beach.
Many people have paid tribute to the TV doctor on social media.
Author Tom Watson said: "It's hard to describe how upset I am by this news.
"Through courageous, science-based journalism, Michael Mosley has helped thousands of people get well and healthy.
"I'm one of them. He was a hero to me.
"He will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family."
