Police have shut down a notorious criminal hotspot in Milton Keynes after it damaged the "quality of life" of neighbours.

Residents living close to a property in Garraways, Coffee Hall, made repeated reports to Thames Valley Police of antisocial behaviour and drug use at the address after a continued "detrimental" impact on their lives.

Following the pursuit of a closure order by officers, Milton Keynes Magistrates Court granted a three-month shut-down of the premises this week, prohibiting access to anyone not specifically listed on court documents.

Members of the force's South Neighbourhood Policing Team received “repeated reports” of criminal activity at the house prior to the court order, often involving visitors to the address.

The order, which can only be granted for a period of up to three months by a magistrates’ court, is usually issued in cases where a premises has been reported for “persistent disorder or nuisance”.

This can include noise and public order offences, all the way through to violent crime and other serious breaches of the law.

Anyone not listed on the order who attempts to enter the house is now liable for prosecution and risks being arrested.
