TV presenter and Bourne End resident Lorraine Kelly will cut the ribbon on a new and refurbished studio space for a long-running Marlow radio station next month.

Marlow FM was based at the Longridge Activity Centre for over a decade before its former site was demolished last year.

The volunteer-run enterprise was offered an old caretaker’s garage on the grounds of Great Marlow School in the spring of 2023, and extensive work has been taken to convert the site into a functioning studio space in the months since.

Over £21,000 has been raised in a campaign asking for the help of those in Marlow who value the nearly two-decade-old radio station, and the fruits of the refurbishment work are to be realised very soon.

In July, Marlow FM will relocate from a temporary base at Marlow Library to the newly decked-out building, and staff have recruited ITV's Lorraine Kelly to do the opening honours.

The popular TV host has lived in a riverside mansion in Bourne End with her husband since 2017 and was recently urged by fellow villagers to help stop “cowboy” buildings from constructing new bungalows in the area.

Marlow FM, which was founded by Tim Ashburner in 2006, has become a crucial part of the town’s fabric and covers a varied programming schedule from breakfast and drivetime shows to environmental and business issues.
