Wycombe's parliamentary candidate Steve Baker has announced he's back from his holiday in Greece, ready to work on his campaign on the lead up to the General Election.

Last week, the former Wycombe MP was accused of "giving up" his election campaign after he was criticised for not cancelling his summer holiday.

Ex-cabinet minister for the Conservatives Rory Stewart criticised Steve Baker for being on holiday during the lead up to the General Election.

But Steve Baker came back with fighting talk asserting that the parliamentary recess was a good time to catch a break abroad.

After returning from his holiday on Sunday, Mr Baker said: "It is great to be back in Wycombe, a place that I am proud to call home.

"I'm also proud of my local record of achievements.

"A place I call home unlike some candidates I could mention but I won't say too much more about that and of course, I have dealt with with the most important pressing issue of the campaign today which is to stop looking like a yeti and perhaps look a little bit more like a parliamentary candidate.

"Please follow the campaign. Really looking forward to it. Really hoping that you'll give me a chance to continue working for Wycombe."

He has thanked everyone who has helped him on his campaign so far.

Adding: "Huge thank you to Wycombe Conservatives and our management team. Thanks to you we've now got the biggest, best most organised campaign we've ever had because Wycombe is of course a targeted marginal seat with the loss of Hazlemere I'm widely expected to lose. I'm realistic about that.

"But I know that with your support we've got a good chance of winning despite predictions."
