As I write this I can see the rain is pouring down outside, another ‘April shower’ even though it is nearly June, but my thoughts are turning to lovely sunny summer days.
Therefore, this week we are taking a look at one of the popular summer pastimes in Wycombe, a visit to the Rye and the open-air swimming pool, now called the Lido.
This was originally opened on June 1, 1957, although it has received many facelifts since, but we will concentrate on the venue as it was then.
The main pool had a shallow and a deep end, and there was a much smaller paddling pool for toddlers.
