Plans to build a multi-million-pound film studio on Greenbelt land near the A404 in Little Marlow will be determined by Buckinghamshire Council today, May 30.

Marlow Film Studios has been the subject of continuous and impassioned debates since it was first proposed by developers Dido Property Ltd in 2021.

Following a deferred decision by Bucks Council’s Strategic Sites Committee last autumn, councillors will reconvene at 10am today (Thursday, May 30) to approve or reject planning permission.

In the October meeting, committee members were torn between the supposed economic benefits of the film studio – which developers say would inject £3.5 billion into the economy per decade and create over 4,000 jobs – and its potential for environmental harm.

Planning officers have recommended that the application be refused because of its “inappropriate development on the Greenbelt", its conflict with the development of Little Marlow Lakes Country Park and its “severe impact” on local roads.

A spokesperson for Marlow Film Studios said they have “noted the officer’s report and look forward to discussing it in detail with the committee” during today’s meeting.

The committee will reconvene at The Oculus building in Aylesbury at 10am to discuss the film studio planning application. A live webcast of the meeting will also be streamed on the Buckinghamshire Council website.
