Chiltern Railways is making changes to its timetable starting from June 2.

The new schedule calls for the addition of a morning and evening train service on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with an aim to alleviate some of the issues with limited seating during the busiest times of the week.

The move is expected to increase service for customers in Buckinghamshire.

The carrier has also asked customers to verify their schedules before they travel.

This comes as a response to increased crowding at peak times.

The newly added services will enhance commuting in Buckinghamshire, providing 380 more seats during the morning and evening rushes.

The additional trains will run from Princes Risborough, making stops at High Wycombe and Beaconsfield before reaching London Marylebone.

The extra evening journey will also originate from London Marylebone, calling at High Wycombe and Princes Risborough.

Andy Camp, Commercial & Customer Strategy Director at Chiltern Railways, shared his excitement about the improved services.

He said: "I know that this extra service for customers in Buckinghamshire will be well used, and will hopefully relieve some of the crowding issues that we have seen on the network at peak times in the middle of the week.

"It is a step in the right direction as we work hard with industry partners to increase capacity by renewing our fleet, which is now the oldest in the country."

However, due to constraints tied to the age of their train fleet—now the oldest in the country—Chiltern Railways may have to make slight adjustments to the timings of some services.

Changes will only amount to a few minutes which aim at boosting overall punctuality and accommodating the added peak-time service.

Certain adjustments to service stopping patterns will also be made.

For instance, the 5.37pm train from London Marylebone to Birmingham on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays will now leave at 5.33pm.

Furthermore, the 5.45pm train from London Marylebone to Oxford will call at Beaconsfield, but not High Wycombe, on the same days.

Chiltern Railways has asked its customers to check for any changes in the timings of their regular trains from June 2.
