Friends and residents of High Wycombe came together for the town's annual 'mayor-weighing' event, a tradition dating back to 1678.
Cllr Nathan Thomas, the newly-appointed Mayor of High Wycombe, was placed on a set of scales and weighed, alongside other key officials.
The custom dates back to the 17th century, when the mayor's weight on the day was taken as a measure of whether they were corrupt.
A medieval May Fayre was also held adjacent to the main ceremony.
The public were entertained by English Civil War re-enactors, and a number of other attractions.
The event was organised by the HWBIDCo, High Wycombe's business improvement district (BID).
Melanie Williams, HWBIDCo's chief executive, said: "We love celebrating our town and this event is like no other.
"We were delighted to welcome Cllr Nathan Thomas as the new mayor, and celebrate our completely unique and wonderful High Wycombe heritage."
