A popular pub in Chalfont St Peter has reopened following a six-week closure.
The Jolly Farmer, which sits at the top of Gold Hill West in the village, officially relaunched on Friday, May 17 after they spent the last month-and-a-half on a £450,000 overhaul.
Improvements to the venue including having the dining room extended to create 36 extra covers, whilst the wallpaper has also been replaced.
Seating throughout has been reupholstered with rich, tactile fabrics from Designers Guild and Linwood to create a space that is full of light, and welcoming and makes the most of the views across the common.
Outside, a pair of stone whippets stand guard by the entrance whilst the terrace, with its eye-catching umbrellas.
To celebrate the pub’s new look, VIP guests were invited for a sneak peek before the pub opened and entertained with live music, tastings from Amersham Distillery and Chiltern Brewery and a cookery demonstration from Heartwood Chefs Joe and Lokesh.
On Sunday, May 19, the pub hosted a guided dog walk led by members of the team followed by a talk from award-winning travel writer and author of ‘Dog Days Out - 365 things to do with your dog across the UK and Ireland’, Lottie Gross who hosted a ‘pup quiz’ and answered guests’ questions on travelling with their canine companions.

The pub continued the celebrations over the following week with a series of events, including the following:
- Meet the Micro Pigs: Kew Little Pigs visited the pub on May 20
- Quiz Night: Join us from 7pm on Tuesday, May 21 for the first weekly quiz night with some fantastic prizes to be won
- Steak Night returns from 5pm every Wednesday with a complimentary bottle of wine and three specially selected sauces when guests order two or more steaks
- Saturday evenings for live music - new acts every week
