The lift in a block of flats in High Wycombe that flouted planning permission has been given the green light by Buckinghamshire Council.
This week, planning officers signed off the controversial lift and other aspects of Revere Homes’ redevelopment of the car park at Old Kiln Road in Flackwell Heath.
The ongoing construction of two pairs of three-bedroom semi-detached houses and a block of four two-bedroom apartments on the site has already received planning consent.
However, several breaches of the permission at the site were identified by the council earlier this year, including the installation of a lift into the roof space above the flats.
This led neighbours to question whether the lift – the mechanism of which overran through the top of the roof – would serve additional flats not included on the original plans.

But despite multiple objections, planners have now approved Revere’s application to ‘regularise’ an automatic opening vent and a lift overrun.
Ahead of officers’ approval, several local residents had their say on the lift and the developer’s intentions for the site.
Mr Noel Johnston said: “I wish to object to this application as it clearly is to enable the height of the building to be increased beyond that which was approved in the original application.
“There is a suspicion that the developer wishes to create an additional flat within the second floor roof space.”
Marilyn Finch also weighed in, saying: “It seems the developer has decided to use the ‘roof space’ as accommodation for an additional one or two flats.”
