Arriva is planning to shut down its High Wycombe and Aylesbury bus depots, affecting a range of local services.
The company shared its intentions to consult with employees on the proposed closures, as the depots "continuously generate losses" despite exhaustive attempts to amend the situation, including operational alterations to better align with local demands.
Service disruption isn't anticipated immediately, and the corporation pledges to cooperate with local authority partners in a bid to reduce possible impacts should they decide to drop the services.
Throughout the closure process, Arriva will provide updates to both customers and employees.
Should the closures go forward, Arriva plans to suspend services including X7/X8, X9/X90, 2, 3, 4, 5/5a, 6/6a, 7/7a, 10, 11, 12, 13, 800/850/X80 and X9/90, affecting links between Aylesbury, High Wycombe, Oxford, Reading, and other local destinations.
However, the X5 service from Aylesbury to Hemel Hempstead would continue to operate from Arriva's Hemel Hempstead depot.
Despite the closures, Arriva would still provide specific contracted services on behalf of Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Councils for the heat of their agreed contract terms.
These services include various specific journeys, evening runs, and Sunday routes on bus lines 800, 11, 12, and 7.
