It was a day to remember as the second annual Dhun festival celebrating Indian culture took place in Chesham last month.
Hundreds of people from the local South Asian community visited the Elgiva Centre in the town where they were spoiled with classical dancing and music, before the second period of the show saw everyone in the crowd enjoyed well-known tunes from some of the biggest movies in Bollywood.
Gareth Williamson, who aims to become the town’s MP at the next general election for the Conservative Party, was in attendance.
“He told the Free Press: “ I’ve attended several of these events in the past, and it’s very important to celebrate the culture of different population groups in both Chesham and Amersham.
“Both areas have a fantastic diverse community, and I love looking at the dancing, hearing the singing and just seeing everyone enjoy themselves.
“It’s important that different communities can celebrate their heritage in places like Chesham.
“It’s something that we can get behind up and down the country.
“These events are a kaleidoscope of putting different communities together and I’m a huge supporter of this.”
The event was organised by Jai Vardhan Hada through the company, Amerindis, with the acts from the night visiting his restaurant, Kokum, in Little Chalfont for a post-production meal.
