This year's MasterChef semi-finalists were taken deep into the ancient forests of near Amersham for a challenge ‘like no other’.
Six amateur contestants were tossed from the ‘frying pan into the fire' for a task in the great outdoors at Nomadic, a wilderness dining experience based in Chalfont St Giles.
In series 20 episode 20, which will be on BBC one at 9pm on Thursday, May 16, the participants felt the heat as they cooked under the guidance of Swedish chef Niklas Ekstedt, one of the world's leading experts in live fire cooking.
The Michelin star chef shared how his cooking style is inspired by "the way we used to cook before electricity was introduced".
The contestants were shown how to make an open fire to cook on and also foraged food for the set menu, which was made for several experts including survival and bushcraft expert Ray Mears.
Among the food cooked were Arctic char, langoustine, duck and venison.
The episode is currently available to watch now on iPlayer.
