Ten small businesses based in Buckinghamshire have been named best in the region by popular lifestyle blog Muddy Stilettos.

Each year, Muddy Stilettos gives readers the chance to nominate their favourite small businesses for a chance of being named best in their categories across Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.

Over 40 businesses in Bucks were nominated in this year’s Muddy Awards in categories including Best Café, Best Destination Pub and Best Hair Salon.

And the winners of the 2024 awards have now been announced – with ten of the Bucks-based enterprises making the final cut and going through to the national finals.

Duke’s Wine Bar in Princes Risborough was named Best Bar, Rackley’s on Cadmore End was named Best Event Venue and Lillingstone Pick Your Own in Buckingham was named Best Family Attraction.

Two Marlow businesses took home top prizes from Muddy Stilettos’ regional round, with Urban Escape scooping the title of Best Beauty Salon/Clinic and Jack Blumenthal’s Ginger Wings restaurant named the best Casual Dining spot in the area.

Lacey’s Farm Shop in Lane End won the prize for Best Farmshop/Deli, The Flower House in Aylesbury was named Best Florist and Stella and Wolf in Chesham won the title of Best Women’s Fashion/Accessories Shop.

Yoga Hook in Gerrards Cross also took home the title of Best Yoga/Pilates Studio across Bucks and Oxon, and High Wycombe-based Coached by Ren was named Best Fitness Instructor in the region.

Ren Reed told the Free Press last month that being nominated for the Muddy Awards was an “amazing feeling”, adding: “I have always aimed to inspire and empower women to become the best versions of themselves.

“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude.”

A spokesperson for Muddy Stilettos said judges had sifted through "hundreds and thousands" of votes and thanked residents across the 28 counties involved for helping to boost their local independents.

The winners will now compete at Muddy Stilettos’ national finals, held on July 11, when blog editors will whittle down the regional winners to reveal the definitive crème-de-la-crème of small businesses in the UK.
