The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms across Buckinghamshire today, May 1.

The Met Office has forecast heavy showers and thunder across the South East later today, despite some parts of the region reaching a maximum of 21°C.

A yellow thunderstorm warning will be in place from 8pm tonight until 8am tomorrow, Thursday, May 2.

Wet weather is forecast to hit Buckinghamshire between 2pm and 4pm today, initially in short bursts which will turn into a more thundery downpour heading into the evening.

Heavy and thundery rain will then move northwest across the region overnight, with showers throughout the day tomorrow.

While it signals a mixed beginning to the new month, temperatures are predicted to generally stay in the high teens over the next week following an unseasonably chilly April.

The Environment Agency has issued several flood alerts across Buckinghamshire following recent and predicted rainfall, including for the River Wye and the River Colne.
