Many residents in High Wycombe have reacted to the news that the town has gained its fourth McDonald’s restaurant.
The new drive-thru on Crest Road officially opened its doors on Wednesday, April 25 with hundreds of people across the area visiting the establishment.
It is also the second in Wycombe to have a drive-thru, joining the branch in Dovecot.
However, some have criticised the idea that the town needed a fourth outlet of the fast food joint, with the latest arrival just two minutes from the Holmer Farm Way branch.
The latter is based inside the town’s Asda supermarket.
Taking their thoughts to Facebook, this person said: “Wow how to make the town centre landfill.
“There’s a McDonald’s there not quite the same feel to it.
“Let’s face it some people will enjoy the odd visit to McDonald’s but you’re just enticing the majority who don’t see the risks of that diet.
Sharon McMackin said: “Four McDonald's in one town bloody ridiculous.”
Howza Stuie added: “McDonald's isn't what it used to be. Also milkshake machines are always broken.
“Customer service is shocking. Food is awful always cold and food order is always wrong missing items.”
Tim Smith said: “Don’t run, don’t walk, there is nothing special about this.
“It’s the same as the other three we already have.”
Nigel Lewis added: “Not today, or any day.”
Stacey Coburn said: “More food places. It’s ridiculous. We don’t need more food places in this town.”
Victoria Stally added: “Just what we need.
“Food, food, food. Not. Shame it's not somewhere to go and have entertainment or something for young teens to get active.”
Kerrie Gray said: “Why!!! How many Aldi & McDonald’s does one town need? Let alone the traffic jams caused ridiculous planning as per.”
The latest branch boasts two floors, a drive-thru, a designated area for delivery drivers/riders, and eco-friendly décor.
There is also a large car park, with the building being next to several other major chains such as Costa Coffee and TGI Fridays.
Alan Butchers, who owns all four McDonald’s restaurants in the town, along with the four in Hemel Hempstead, added: “We’re delighted to be opening up in High Wycombe.
“This has created 80 new jobs and if I’m totally honest, I think we are [McDonald’s] is underrepresented in High Wycombe."
