A desi street food café in High Wycombe has temporarily closed after a car crashed into it at around midnight last night.
Mr Khan, one of the managers of Karak Chaii, a popular café on Oxford Street, said he was woken up by phone calls “left, right and centre” after a car crashed into the shopfront late last night (April 19).
The crash happened at around midnight and a police cordon was put in place around the entrance this morning, Saturday, April 20.
As of 5:30pm, a replacement wooden window was being installed and pieces of glass remained on the pavement outside the café.
Mr Khan said the perpetrators appeared to have fled the scene after the crash but left what he thought was a number of nitrous oxide canisters in the vehicle.
He also said police told him the car wasn’t registered to anyone and that its number plates were of a different make.
“We’re hoping to open again soon, but it won’t be easy. The front window is a special kind of glass which we’ll have to get made and some of the interiors are damaged from where the car came in.
“We are eat-in, not a takeaway. We can’t be open while it looks like this.”
