A man has been jailed for two years after driving at over 100 miles per hour with a child in his car on the M40.
Miley Connors, 37, of Scant Road East in Hambrook, West Sussex, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on April 12.
This was in connection with an incident in Oxford on December 29, 2021.
Around 4.10pm on the day, Connors was seen driving an SUV down the hard shoulder of the M40's southbound carriageway between Warwickshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
He hit the central reservation on the Shabbington bend between junctions 9 and 8A with such force that the car lost a tire.
Connors then continued on to the overbridge near Worminghall, where he got out of the car and began urinating.
A child escaped from the car onto the motorway embankment, and was taken in by officers.
In arrest footage released by Thames Valley Police, Connors is seen acting abusively towards officers.
Connors was jailed for two years.
In addition, he has been disqualified from driving for two years, and will have to pass an extended retest in order to get his licence back.
He must also complete 250 hours of unpaid work, 120 days of alcohol monitoring, and a thinking skills programme within 20 days.
He has been fined £3,000.
Investigating officer PC Amy Boughton, of the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: "This was one of the worse pieces of driving I have ever seen.
"Not only is it shocking to watch, it’s gut-wrenching to know there was a young child in that vehicle, scared and crying.
"The child was found wet, muddy and cold, and stood over Miley Connors, who was throwing up and incapable of looking after them.
"I can only hope that Connors take this second chance and makes recompense for the lives he could have so easily taken because of his reckless actions."
