Residents near High Wycombe have noticed an increased police presence on land and air as part of a missing person search.

Those with their eyes on the skies and the ground might have spotted a number of police helicopters flying over High Wycombe, Marlow and Great Missenden on Sunday afternoon, April 14.

The Free Press can confirm that the air deployment was engineered by the National Police Air Service (NPAS) in coordination with Thames Valley Police officers on the ground.

Police were taking measures to track down a missing child, with the NPAS recruited to help scour the Wycombe region from the air.

Luckily, the multi-avenue search was short-lived, as the child was ‘quickly found’ by a member of the public just after 3pm.

A spokesperson for NPAS said: “At 3pm on Sunday, April 14, a police helicopter crew from NPAS Benson was deployed to the High Wycombe area to assist Thames Valley Police (in) the search for a missing child.

“The child was quickly found by a member of the public and (the) total flight time was just seven minutes.”
