A popular restaurant that arrived in Gerrards Cross last year has been named the best in Buckinghamshire by a respected awarding body.
The Journeyman, a Mediterranean-style restaurant that opened its doors at 10 Packhorse Road in July 2023, has been named the best of its kind in the county at the National Pub and Bar Awards.
The art-deco venue, which has a menu ranging from wood-fired pizza and Sunday roasts to avocado on toast and pancakes, is among 94 pubs and bars across the UK that have been chosen as county winners by the Pub and Bar magazine’s internal judging panel.
A spokesperson for the restaurant said the whole staff team had worked “tirelessly hard” to provide a “lively and welcoming venue” that Gerrards Cross had been “crying out for” before its arrival.
They added: “To receive awards on national and county levels is a huge testament to all the hours put in by the team.
“From the training and setting up months before opening to where we are now, we are so grateful firstly to those who have contributed (through their work) and, most importantly, to those lovely guests who keep coming back to visit us.

“It’s been an incredible start and we’re loving every minute of it, but this is just the beginning. Here’s to many more successful years in Gerrards Cross.”
The Journeyman will be invited to the National Pub and Bar Awards Grand Final in June to compete against other establishments in the southeast to be named among 15 regional winners.
The titles of Pub Brand of the Year, Bar Brand of the Year, The Tyrrells Tyrrellbly Good Taste Awards and overall National Pub and Bar of the Year will also be handed out at the ceremony in Euston Square, London this summer.
The restaurant, which takes its name from the eponymous Jethro Tull song which includes the line, “No time for tea at Gerrards Cross”, was also named Best New Site at the Publican Awards in March.
Ed Bedington, editor of The Morning Advertiser, which organises the Publicans, described them as “the Oscars of the hospitality trade”.
The Journeyman was the 42nd pub opened by the Oakman Inns group and its site on Packhorse Road underwent an extensive refurbishment before opening last year, with new installations including an open-plan kitchen, a mid-century bar area and a heated outdoor terrace.
It has received near-unanimously praise from customers over the last ten months, with recent online reviews praising its “fantastic” food and "great" atmosphere.
