Planners have stopped a couple building a ‘Lego room’ and gym in their garden due to the ‘height, size and bulk’ of the new structure.
Mr and Mrs Davis of 19 Frogmore Lane, Long Crendon, applied to Buckinghamshire Council for permission to demolish their existing outbuilding and replace it with a new one.
They claimed the new multipurpose space, spread across two storeys, would be of a similar size to the old one.
The applicants said: “The ground floor will be used as a home gym and a children’s Lego room whilst the loft space will be used as a work from home office.”

However, Long Crendon Parish Council raised concerns that the new outbuilding would be ‘overbearing’.
A spokesperson for the authority said: “This latest application looks like a re-submission of an unfavourable scheme that was previously changed to one storey to gain approval.”
In their refusal of the plans, planners said the outbuilding would ‘compete’ with the main house and that it would conflict with policies due to it being out of context with the surrounding area.
They added that dormer windows would ‘result in a harmful impact on the special character of the Long Crendon Conservation Area’.
