Buckinghamshire football fans feel strongly over the recent colour change to the St George's Cross on the new England football team shirt.
Nike has altered the appearance of the St George’s Cross using purple and blue horizontal stripes in what it called a “playful update” to the shirt ahead of Euro 2024.
However, the decision has proven controversial, with both Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer criticising the change.
The Bucks Free Press received more than 100 comments from readers when we asked for opinions on social media on Friday, March 22, a day before losing to Brazil.
Several residents voiced their frustration at the change.
Tim Holden was unhappy with the question, and said: "Why on earth do they think it’s a good idea to change the colours of our national flag.
"The FA must have approved so probably no surprise as they recently changed the playing shirts to blue. England should play in red and white, nothing else."
Henry David Allum simply said: "It's not St George's Cross!"
"A national emblem (ours being the cross of St George) would not be altered or changed in any other country around the world, don't see why we find it so supposedly unacceptable to be English," said Myles Wood
Charlie Hook said: "Absolute fuss over nothing."
