The emergency services are currently at the scene at the time of writing.
After a lengthy delay, some traffic caught within the closure has been allowed to pass by the scene via the hard shoulder.
However, as the recovery continues, National Highways East has confirmed that drivers caught in the delays are expected to wait around 50 minutes to pass through.
Congestion is also four miles long, as the overturned lorry has blocked all three southbound lanes.
It is not known what caused the accident, or if there are any injuries.
A Recovery vehicle is at the scene, with the Highways Agency suggesting that the incident to expected to clear by 11.15 this evening [March 24].
