Buckinghamshire residents are among the many sharing their support and well wishes for the Princess of Wales after her cancer diagnosis.

The future queen revealed she is undergoing treatment for cancer in an emotional video message yesterday.

She spoke about her "huge shock" after tests identified cancer following her abdominal surgery and the "incredibly tough couple of months" her family have experienced since.

The news has sparked an outpouring of support across the globe, and Bucks Free Press readers are among those voicing their well wishes for Kate and her young family at this unimaginably difficult time.

Sally Ballard from Chalfont St Peter said: "So sorry to hear you've had this diagnosis. How brave you were to issue this video.

"I do hope you and your family have privacy while you continue your treatment and recover. Very best wishes to you all."

Another resident from Holmer Green added: "We watched your brave announcement with much concern and admiration.

"We sincerely hope that the treatment continues to bring you back to full health."

Hugh Dunlop from High Wycombe said: "My thoughts and prayers are with you. May God speed you back to health."

And Flora Skouteri, also from Wycombe, sent the princess her "best wishes for a speedy recovery".

Adding: "Now it's time to look after yourself (in the way) you have treated people for many years."

King Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer in February, is said to be "proud" of his daughter-in-law for her "courage" in speaking about her treatment and has remained in close contact with her during the past few weeks.

The form of cancer Kate is undergoing treatment for has not been disclosed but she said she began a course of "preventative chemotherapy" in late February and described herself as "well and getting stronger every day".

Words of support also came from Harry and Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who said: "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace."

Speaking in the video message recorded on Wednesday in Windsor, the princess said: "This of course came as a huge shock, and William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family. As you can imagine, this has taken time.

"But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be OK.

"As I have said to them; I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body and spirits."

Buckingham Palace said: “His Majesty is ‘so proud of Catherine for her courage in speaking as she did’.

“Following their time in hospital together, HM has ‘remained in the closest contact with his beloved daughter-in-law throughout the past weeks.’

“Both Their Majesties ‘will continue to offer their love and support to the whole family through this difficult time’.”
