A 34-year-old man from Milton Keynes has been jailed for more than four years after running a motorcyclist off the road.
Nikesh Mistry, 34, of Groundsel Close, Walnut Tree, has been sentenced to four years and ten months in prison after intentionally colliding with a motorcyclist near the Walton Roundabout in Milton Keynes in November 2022.
Mistry, driving a silver BMW, had a non-verbal exchange with the 40-year-old motorcyclist, a man from Oxley Park, as the two vehicles travelled north on Brickhill Street on November 19.
Mistry then swerved towards the other side of the carriageway, forcing the motorcycle onto the wrong side of the road and into a metal bridge railing.
Both vehicles travelled in the right-hand lane until the man in his 40s was thrown from his bike and catapulted over the bridge and into the nearby undergrowth.
Meanwhile, Mistry crashed head-on with another car that had been coming in the opposite direction.
The motorcyclist was seriously injured and was airlifted to Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge and a front passenger was also seriously injured as a result of the two-car collision and was taken to Milton Keynes University Hospital.
Mistry pleaded guilty to two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and one count of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a hearing at Aylesbury Crown Court on December 20, 2023.
On Thursday, March 13, he was sentenced to four years and ten months in prison and disqualified from driving for the same period.
Investigating officer PC Phil McGlue of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This case is an extreme example of road rage.
“Mistry was not in any immediate danger and chose to respond in a manner that was so violent and so disproportionate that he turned road disagreement into a very serious assault.
“Drivers who behave in such a manner will be rigorously investigated and held to account for their actions and Mistry will now serve a prison sentence as a result of those decisions.”
