The Jolly Farmer in Chalfont St Peter is a cosy community-centric pub perched on Gold Hill West. Its Sunday menu includes grass-fed ethically reared roast beef, fish dishes and a range of vegetarian options – with a starter and/or dessert thrown in for just £6 alongside a main course.
One review praised the pub’s “friendly staff and excellent, tasty food” and “good atmosphere, perfect for a family get-together of both young and old”.
The Green Man in Denham is a 14th-century coaching inn offering classic gastropub food. Sunday roasts include pork loin, a top side of beef and vegetable wellington, all served with roast potatoes, honey-glazed, carrots, cauliflower cheese and all the trimmings.
One happy customer wrote: “The food was excellent – two late Sunday lunches and no sign of overdone veg or end-of-the-line potatoes. All cooked beautifully and a really enjoyable meal.”
The Saracen’s Head in Amersham is a historic pub just a stone's throw away from Old Town that specialises in “good, honest, unpretentious food” amid traditional wooden panelling and a large open fire.

Its locally sourced Sunday menu and daily specials board make it another popular destination for special occasions, with one TripAdvisor reviewer writing: “A great range of top-quality roasts on a Sunday. The beef was lovely and rare and warmed through further for a member of our party who wanted it that way and children were very well catered for.”
"Charming" local pub the Bull and Butcher in Buckingham is another sure bet for a quality Mother’s Day meal. A 17th-century building in The Square in Akeley, it offers a wide range of Sunday roasts alongside burgers, cocktails and speciality desserts.
Taking to TripAdvisor to share their experience, one visitor said it was “the best Sunday lunch” they had ever had, adding: “The landlady was so lovely and made us feel very welcome, the food was amazing and other meals coming out of the kitchen (also) looked fantastic.”
The Black Lion in Bourne End is yet another family and dog-friendly pub in Buckinghamshire offering a welcoming space for families to celebrate the mums in their lives by tucking into a classic Sunday roast.
Mains include a trio of meats with sage and onion stuffing and pork crackling and desserts range from chocolate fudge cake and sticky toffee pudding to ice cream and sorbet. Perfect for sweet-toothed parents!
One review described their “spectacular” meal of “perfectly cooked” roast pork with “crackling, roast potatoes, cauliflower, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding and thick, unctuous gravy”. Sounds good to us!
