Plans to build a 25m high 5G mast in Stoke Poges have been abandoned, Buckinghamshire Council has said.
The huge ‘monopole’ would have been put up at the telecommunications base station near Brockhurst Wood, Templewood Lane.
But the proposals, put forward by Icon Tower Infrastructure Group Limited, have now been shelved, planning officers said.

The new mast would have been installed around 35m away from an existing mast and have been equipped with antennas dishes and other equipment, forming a new ‘base station’ at the site.
Plans stated: “The new base station is required due to the existing mast being unsuitable for the necessary upgrade of equipment.
“Additionally, the proposed mast will future-proof the site as it has the capacity to host multiple operators’ equipment and the ability to host 5G technologies.”
5G is the latest generation of mobile data network, which offers faster connection and download speeds.
