SEVERAL businesses in Buckinghamshire have been shortlisted for a top award dubbed the ‘Rural Oscars’ after beating off competition from thousands of other entries.

The Countryside Alliance Awards celebrate rural businesses that go the extra mile and support local communities.

Four Buckinghamshire businesses have been named as contenders for the south east.

In the butcher category, Parrot Brothers, Aylesbury and The Meat Hook in Marlow are shortlisted.

Paul’s Proper British Pies based in Buckingham is up for an award in the Local Food / Drink category.

E J Churchill, shooting ground in Lane End,  has been named as one of the contenders in the regional final in the Rural Enterprise category for the south east.

The Countryside Alliance Awards 2024, now in its 17th year, are unique in that they are driven by public nomination.

Customers have the chance to say why their favourite business is worthy of national acclaim.

To vote visit research.net/r/CAA24NMP before the closing date on April 1.

Countryside Alliance director Sarah Lee said: “We've received a wealth of nominations from the public this year, showcasing a multitude of exceptional businesses in the South East of England.

"Each business plays a meaningful role in their community, and what sets the Rural Oscars apart is their emphasis on honouring the individuals behind these businesses, rather than just their products or services.

"Given the challenging circumstances faced by many rural businesses around the country, it's essential for all of us to demonstrate support in any way possible.

"We encourage as many people as possible to get voting today.”

Regional winners will be announced in May and then go forward to compete against category winners from across the country in the grand final in June.
