Job adverts have appeared for a Store Assistant and Deputy Manager at the new Aldi supermarket in Amersham - which has not yet been granted planning permission.
It may seem like a long time since budget supermarket chain Aldi first announced plans to open a new branch in the former Jaguar dealership on London Road West in Amersham.
An application to demolish the site and build a store with associated car parking and landscaping was submitted in March 2021, but the plans have been stymied by concerns over its proximity to the River Misbourne and permission has still not been granted.
The chain is running the risk of confusing residents about the progress of the would-be branch, however, by seemingly pre-emptively listing job adverts for a Store Assistant and Deputy Manager in Amersham on the employment website Indeed.
The advertised Store Assistant role pays between £12 and £12.95 per hour while the Deputy Manager position offers between £13.25 and £14.20 - not bad for retail positions, if the supermarket gets built that is!
Despite an apparent lack of momentum, work is underway behind the scenes to speed up a decision on the future of Aldi in Amersham - with the Local Lead Flood Authority stating that it has "no objection" to the store in a document submitted on January 17.

Speaking to the Free Press last month, Peter Strachan, Buckinghamshire Council's Cabinet Member for Planning and Environment, said he hoped the application would be referred for a planning committee decision "in the early half of this year", subject to "additional information" being provided by Aldi.
Meanwhile, Aldi revealed a planned opening date for the new branch of June 6, 2024, in response to a customer on social media last September.
The proposed discount supermarket has received overwhelming support from residents in Amersham, who said a "cheap and local" store was needed in the town and would particularly benefit those used to travelling further afield for their weekly shops.
A total of 1,675 letters of support were sent to the planning portal, compared to just 17 letters of objection.
It comes after Aldi announced plans to create 56 new jobs in Buckinghamshire this year as part of a nationwide recruitment drive.
Aldi has been contacted for comment about the job listings.
