CO-op has reassured customers in Princes Risborough over rumours they're closing after Asda announced it is opening in the same street.
Concerned residents feared the Bell Street Co-op would be closing following the announcement Asda would be opening a small express store on February 27.
A total of 110 new Asda Express shops will be unveiled in February across the UK.
Last month Asda explained how the store would be taking over former Co-op sites.
Andy Perry, Asda’s vice president of convenience, said: “Asda’s significant investment in building a nationwide chain of convenience stores is a key component of our long-term strategy to become the number two player in UK grocery.
"February is a transformational month for programme with a record number of store openings and conversion of all former Co-op sites to Asda Express sites."
This is not the case in Princes Risborough and instead, the SPAR store in the Esso Garage will be turned into an ASDA.
A co-op representative confirmed 'they're not shutting' and would like to reassure customers over this.
