Rail services will be disrupted across the country today due to ongoing industrial action by train drivers in their long-running dispute over pay and conditions.
Chiltern Railways has warned customers that none of its services will run today (Sunday, February 4) because of an overtime ban which has led to widespread cancellations across the wider rail network, causing chaos for many passengers.
Aslef union members at Chiltern Railways will also be on strike tomorrow (February 5) with no trains in service, while services on other lines including Great Western Railway will be “extremely limited”.
The dispute between train drivers and transport ministers began over 18 months ago and remains deadlocked, with no talks planned.
Aslef says it has not met with transport ministers for more than a year, and employers since last April when the union rejected a pay offer linked to changes in working practices.
Train operators and the government insist the offer is “fair and reasonable”.
