A local museum has closed its doors for a ‘complete makeover’, allowing it to ‘better highlight historical artefacts’.
Marlow Museum, which currently operates from the Peacock Room at Court Garden in Marlow, has closed its doors for two months of renovation.
The museum will reopen at the end of March, just in time for the Easter holidays.
Chairman Michael Hyde said: “Ideally, the museum would like to expand from our modest single-room premises but that’s probably for the future.
“In the meantime, we feel, and a survey has confirmed, that a complete makeover is required. From top to bottom, we need to create a fresh interior to enhance the visitor experience as well as to better highlight local historical artefacts.”

He added that the museum, which has been based at Court Garden for 15 years, would need to be closed while the work is undertaken, with the usually quiet period at the end of winter judged a suitable period for the refurbishment by the Trustees and Management Committee.
Mr Hyde also apologised to regular visitors of the museum but promised that the new-and-improved premises would prove to be an “exciting” change and that the makeover would be “safely and speedily undertaken”.
