Police have arrested two people and launched a murder investigation after a man was fatally stabbed in Buckinghamshire last night.
Police have launched a murder investigation after a 48-year-old man was found stabbed in Brooklands Square in Milton Keynes at 6:47pm yesterday (January 25).
Paramedics tried to save his life but tragically the 48-year-old, who was from Milton Keynes, was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.
A 27-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, both also from Milton Keynes, were arrested on suspicion of murder and a 57-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
The 27-year-old woman was released without any further action while the man and the 57-year-old woman remain in custody.
Due to recent contact with the victim, the Thames Valley Police Force has made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which will decide whether to investigate this specific part of the case.
Senior investigating officer Detective Inspector Alice Broad said: "Firstly, my thoughts are with the victim's family and friends at this extremely difficult time.
"We are conducting a thorough investigation to discover what happened to the victim and give his loved ones the answers to the questions they will have."
Local Policing Commander for Milton Keynes, Chief Superintendent Emma Baillie added: "As a city, in recent years all of our communities have come together with a great sense of purpose to prevent serious violence and knife crime, which has led to significant reductions in the last few months.
"I know this murder will be felt deeply in Milton Keynes, but violent offenders will never stop our communities from continuing to work together, shoulder to shoulder, to prevent further tragedies or loss of lives.
“Our neighbourhood officers will be conducting patrols in the area, so if you have any concerns, questions or information then please stop and speak to them.”
A cordon currently remains in place in Fen Street and Brooklands Square while officers and staff carry out enquiries at the scene including forensic examinations and obtaining and viewing CCTV footage.
Anyone with information or footage from the area of Brooklands Square and Fen Street is urged to contact the police as soon as possible by calling 101 or visiting the Thames Valley Police website, quoting unique reference number 1784.
