New homes plan axed after crime complaints, 133B West Wycombe Road, High Wycombe (23/06137/FUL)

A plan to convert three one-bed flats into six one-bed flats has been withdrawn after neighbours complained about rising crime in the area.

The applicant, who is said to own other nearby properties, planned a three-storey extension at the rear of the existing building, as well as a loft conversion.

However, three neighbours objected to the plans, complaining about drug and alcohol use on the street, the presence of rats and parking issues.

One neighbour said the new flats would “take away the character and appearance of the area”.

Another added: “I’ve been robbed, my neighbours have been robbed and my pets have been poisoned. Also, it will be an eyesore and cut my daylight in the garden.”

Clothing shop to become tutoring centre, Unit 56 Union Parade, Eden Centre, High Wycombe (23/07810/FUL)

A plan to convert the former ‘Sugar Sole’ clothing store in the Eden Centre into a tutoring centre to help primary age students with English and Maths has been approved by the council.

The application said the transformation of the “soon to become vacant” unit would “provide an education facility and create employment opportunities for the local community”.

The ground floor unit and a first-floor storage area will now be occupied by Arka Learning, which brands itself as an “exciting new startup with a bold vision to transform supplementary education in the UK”.

Plan to turn farm into homes withdrawn, Quarrendon Farm, Quarrendon Farm Lane, Amersham (PL/23/2901/FA)

A planning application had proposed the conversion of the former granary into a two-bedroom dwellinghouse, the former dairy parlour and a barn into a three to four-bedroom dwellinghouse, and another barn into a two to four-bedroom dwellinghouse.

However, the plans for the large site have now been withdrawn.
