A man has been sentenced after he hit a woman in the head at a petrol station in an 'unprovoked' attack.
Ayyaz Mohammed Akbar, 56, of Florence Avenue, Maidenhead, has been sentenced for an assault in Taplow.
He pleaded guilty to one count of assault by beating in a hearing at High Wycombe Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, January 3.
He was ordered to pay a fine, costs and a surcharge totalling £280. He was also given a two-year restraining order.
The assault happened at about 1.50pm on July 11 last year after Akbar entered the Shell Petrol Station on Bath Road, Taplow.
Akbar then assaulted a woman by striking her to the head before taking off.
He was arrested on the same day- and charged for the offence on November 26.
Investigating Officer PC George Ward from the Incident and Crime Response team said: “This incident involved a completely unprovoked assault on the victim in a busy public place in broad daylight.
“I am pleased that Akbar has pleaded guilty and that he has been sentenced.
“Thames Valley Police takes assaults seriously and we will always seek to put offenders before the courts”.
