CO-OP has announced it is closing a branch in the heart of a Buckinghamshire village.
The British retail co-operative revealed it is closing one of its stores in Chalfont St Peter within months.
Co-op confirmed the closure was due to their lease coming to an end in the Bishops House building on Market Place.
A spokesperson for the retailer said: “Co-op regularly reviews its stores, and the difficult decision to close a store in only taken after careful consideration. In Market Place, Chalfont St Peters, our lease expires, and the store will close in March.

“Our priority is to fully support colleagues, who have been informed, and we would like to thank the community for its support of the store. Co-op remains committed to serving Buckinghamshire communities, operating more than 30 stores across the county.”
After the March closure, the village will be left with the M&S Foodhall, Morrisons Daily, Birring Greengrocers and Chalfont Stores corner shop.
The Co-op food store opened at the former Budgens site in September 2016.
The store made headlines in 2018 after thugs drove two vehicles through the door before stealing a cash machine.
