The high street cake shop closed suddenly in the Eden Shopping Centre on Tuesday, January 8, with a note on the door saying it was now shut for good.

Patisserie Valerie said the High Wycombe and ten other shops were closed so that the brand can “continue to thrive both on the high street and online.”

“In order to ensure that this remains so to the future, we have made the decision to undertake this restructure now, to put the focus and resource of the business where we see the potential for continued, profitable growth,” a spokesperson said in a statement.

Bucks Free Press readers reacted with mixed feelings after the closure news.

Denise Farmer said: “I’ve been there for afternoon tea a couple of times and it wasn’t the best!”

Joanne Britnell Rodrigues said: “Sad. But it was very expensive.”
